Recurring dream

paizleighNov 20, 2007 3:18am
For four nights now I have had a beautiful dream of climbing a mountain in the snow. Once I reach the summit I find these beautiful red flowers peeking through the snow. They look as if made from colored sugar. I eat them and it seems the more I eat the more woodland creatures come to gaze at me. This all sounds so peaceful but, I wake up quite disturbed. I have NEVER had a recurring dream before and I find this one is affecting my writing and art. It is taking a dark turn. Can any of you tell me what this means, if anything?

Now, I'm not an expert in dreams and their interpretation, in my opinion, it seems to me that you might be trying to reach new heights when it comes to your art and writing. Yet perhaps there is something blocking your path, and while no one around you can seem to help you, you keep trying to find your way to achieving something new regarding your art and writing.

Hi paizleigh

here's an article on recurrent dreams
ponderabout.com/archives/157/recurrent-dreams/ [ponderabout.com/archives/157/recurrent-dreams/]

regarding the symbolism within the dream
i tend to agree with Nan -
that in some way you are growing, reaching new heights, gaining new and more inclusive perspectives (symbolized by climbing the mountain)

and what you find there and take in (the flowers) is pleasurable

but some part of you, some primitive, maybe conditioned part of you(symbolized by the woodland creatures) is frightened by your new insights and changes, maybe feels guilty since it may these changes may be counter to your upbring, culture or parents

change is often scary

its only a guess
and if it were my dream
what i wrote above
would apply to me

Hi paizleigh, I have just joined the group and read about your dream, a very interesting one. There are many elements in it, and I have to say I can't tell exactly what it means. Dreams are always sending us messages, especially if it's a recurring one. Don't be afraid of it. these are some of the informations I can give: Red=excessive sensuality, love, burning feelings; flowers=a new love smiling at you(maybe);sweet=surpass difficulties, great pleasure; snow=the symbol of repressed desires and critical thinking, fear of loneliness.; who gets to the top of the mountain will have success ...Maybe these won't be of great help , but being a writer I think you can clear the mistery since it's about you, only you or someone very close to you can translate this dream to you , but I can say it's a beautiful and positive dream .

Dreams are linked to intellectual, imaginative and emotional pursuits. If you are a writer then new ideas can be depicted in dreams. Apparently paul MacCartney had dreams which inspired songs such as "hey Jude".

well dreams do not cause the changes in us. They merely reflect changes. So new darker feelings inside you are symbolised by this dream.

A recurring dream is a very important dream. It is giving a message that there is something in the dreamers life that needs to be addressed, and they are failing to do so.Once the dreamer can identify the message and take action, the dream will no longer occur.B*
