| Leadan | Dec 31, 2007 8:19am | My house has two back doors: a double mostly-glass door (hinged, not sliding), and a single, typical outside door. The former opens on an unfinished exercise/dance practice room, the latter onto a connected pantry. I had a dream 2, maybe 3 weeks ago, that involved these, went a bit like this:
I was in an adjacent room when I heard a sound outside on the back porch. I think it was human, but I'm not sure any more. I felt it was imperative to protect whatever was outside, so I went to the double door and let the being in. Quickly, I ushered the creature through the dark exercise room and into the brightly lighted dining room, and all the while the being was muttering things about something being outside. Suddenly I just knew that the door wasn't shut all the way and that something horrible would happen if I didn't close it. I whirled, ran across the wooden exercise floor and threw my body against the door, fingers scrabbling for the deadbolt. It's a tricky deadbolt in real life, needing a kick to the door in the proper place for it to slide home, and this transfered into the dream. The deadbolt stuck in place, halfway open, and not far enough closed. My mental camera jumped from behind me to a side view of the door slamming open and a close up of my head cracking against it. The force threw me half-way across the room as a small, dark, furry creature rocketed through the door. (Have you ever seen Lady in the Water? You know those Scrunt creatures? It was just like that only a little smaller.) Though woozy from the blow and slightly disoriented, I grabbed the scrunt in my arms, slowing its progress enough that I could swing my legs around and have it in a full body grip. I still vividly remember trying to keep its jaws away from me with my hands as I ever so slowly wrestled the thing back to the door. With one final super-human act, I grabbed the scrunt by the back fur and tossed it into the night outside, slamming the door and pushing the lock home.
And then I woke up, wrapped in my blankets and squeezing a pillow to death.
The next morning I went downstairs, out into the pantry to feed my dogs, and the back door was open. Not the same door as the dream, but the other back door. I was so freaked out. Still gives me the creeps.
A couple notes: the whole dream was in 3rd person, which isn't unusual, but not terribly common. I commonly dream into the future, but only little things that are triggered by real life, visual stimulus, like knowing what the sign at Price Chopper will say a second before I see it.
I know this is a long post, and I commend anyone that actually reads it, but I just wanted to share and ask if anyone thinks these events are connected? |

| Bijou242 | Mar 14, 9:04am | I have read your dream and found it quite interesting.Have you considered that the human and creature were acting together. The human/thing was sent as a diversion for the second creature to gain access to the house. When you ushered the human/thing in,your attention was drawn away from the door. This made you vunerable which you realised but to late.
I am no expert but your overall dream may be centred around trust, that you may be putting yourself in jeopardy through misplaced trust.Like your dream in order to get out the situation will take alot of effort.
The door being opened may just be pure coinicidence, or it may be that someone was trying to enter your accomodation and that your senses picked this up and by overcoming the creature and shutting the door you actually stopped the intruder. Thanks for sharing.B* |
